Whether you're an experienced photographer or just trying to learn little tips here and there to take better pictures, smartphones have amazing features to help you!
You may have heard of the "Rule of Thirds" before, but if you haven't photographers use this concept to take pictures that are more interesting and balanced. If you search "Rule of Thirds," you will find hundreds of articles about its history, purpose and even tutorials if you want to become a pro!
But if you're short on time, here's the quick scoop:
Imagine breaking your picture frame into thirds, both vertically and horizontally to create nine equal parts.
The idea is that if you place your subjects along the lines instead of dead center, it creates more interesting photos and highlights some of the surrounding blank space.
If you're taking a photo with a horizon, line it up on any one of the horizontal lines for a better picture.
And believe it or not, your smartphone allows you to add a grid to your camera making the Rule of Thirds effortless on your part!
How to Add Your Grid
Open the Settings app on your phone
Then, scroll down until you see the camera app and open it.
Next, scroll down until you see the "GRID" option and turn it on.
Go back out to your camera and take a practice photo. You will see the grid automatically pop up.
Give it a go! Technology makes it easy for anyone to take pictures like a pro... even you!
As always, please let me know if you have any questions!
All the best,
